Job Summary:
The Powder Coater is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal and other surfaces using the powder coating process. This position ensures high-quality finishes that meet company and customer standards by operating coating equipment, performing inspections, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, or applying pre-treatments.
- Operate powder coating spray guns, ovens, and other related equipment.
- Apply powder coatings evenly and accurately to meet quality and thickness specifications.
- Monitor curing oven temperatures and times to ensure proper adhesion and finish.
- Inspect finished parts for defects such as runs, thin spots, or contaminants; rework as necessary.
- Maintain and clean coating equipment, booths, and work area to ensure proper operation.
- Follow production schedules and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Mix and match powders as needed to achieve specific colors and finishes.
- Follow all safety procedures, including wearing PPE and handling chemicals properly.
- Complete required documentation and maintain accurate production records.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience in powder coating or industrial painting (preferred).
- Knowledge of powder coating materials, equipment, and processes.
- Ability to interpret work orders, color codes, and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Work Environment:
- Industrial or manufacturing setting with exposure to powders, heat, and moving machinery.
- Requires the use of personal protective equipment (respirator, gloves, goggles, etc.).
- May involve standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
