Job Description
We are seeking experienced Ironworkers to join a construction crew working throughout the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with structural steel or pre-engineered metal building erection and be comfortable using hand and power tools and construction equipment.
This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for reliable workers looking for the potential for long-term employment.
Responsibilities
- Erect and assemble pre-engineered metal buildings and structural steel.
- Assist with layout, positioning, and installation of steel components.
- Read and work from construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with bolting, fastening, fitting, and securing structural steel components.
- Work as part of a field erection crew.
- Follow directions from the foreman and project leadership.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Follow all company and job-site safety requirements.
- Perform other duties associated with steel erection and construction as needed.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience working with pre-engineered metal buildings or structural steel preferred.
- Previous ironworking, steel erection, or construction experience.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Ability to work safely at heights.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
- Ability to follow instructions and work from construction plans and drawings.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Welding experience or certification is a plus.
- OSHA certification is a plus, but not required.
PPE & Tools Required
Candidates must provide basic PPE, including:
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- Work gloves
- Work boots
- Other standard construction PPE as required by the job site
