Duties
- Review detailed construction plans, specifications, and blueprints using tools like Plan Swith to extract relevant data for accurate estimating.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates by analyzing labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes.
- Utilize HeavyBid or similar estimating software to compile and manage bid data efficiently.
- Engage in negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and construction management teams to align estimates with project scope and timelines.
- Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights that influence cost control and project planning.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals, including scope of work, pricing breakdowns, and contractual considerations.
- Assist in contract review processes, ensuring all estimates comply with contractual obligations and project requirements.
- Monitor ongoing project costs for accuracy and implement cost control measures as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction management principles.
- Proficiency in Plan Swith for digital plan review and markup.
- Experience using HeavyBid or similar estimating software for bid preparation.
- Solid knowledge of construction site operations, contracts, and project management practices.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing while fostering positive relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications accurately.
- Familiarity with cost control techniques, pricing strategies, and budget management in construction projects.
