What are the responsibilities and job description for the Septic Tank Pumper - CDL REQUIRED position at Superior Septic?
Overview
Septic Service Technician / Pump Truck Driver
Superior Septic | Superior, Montana | Full-Time
About the Role
We're looking for a dependable, hardworking Septic Service Technician to join our team. You'll run a 3,000-gallon vacuum truck, pump residential and commercial septic systems, and be the friendly face (and voice) of our company. You'll also handle scheduling, answer customer calls, and troubleshoot problems in the field. If you take pride in doing the job right and treating people well, we want to talk to you.
Above all, we hire for attitude. We can teach you the trade, but we can't teach a positive, can-do attitude. If you show up ready to work, keep a good outlook, and treat customers and coworkers with respect, you'll fit right in here.
What You'll Do
- Operate a pump truck with a 3,000-gallon tank safely on highways, rural roads, and residential properties
- Pump, clean, and inspect septic tanks for residential and commercial customers
- Locate and uncover tanks, lids, and access points
- Troubleshoot system issues such as backups, slow drains, clogged lines, and failing components, and explain findings to customers in plain language
- Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and help plan daily routes
- Keep accurate service records, invoices, and job notes
- Perform daily truck inspections and basic equipment maintenance
- Follow all safety, environmental, and disposal regulations
What We're Looking For
- Valid CDL required (Class B or higher; tanker endorsement a plus)
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Great communication skills, both on the phone and in person
- Strong customer service mindset: patient, professional, and friendly, even on tough days
- Problem-solving ability and a willingness to figure things out
- Comfortable with physical, outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Organized and reliable, with the ability to manage a schedule and show up on time
- A positive, team-first attitude
Septic or wastewater experience is a plus but not required.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay
- Raises based on performance and skill growth
- Real opportunities for advancement. We promote from within, with room to grow into management roles
- Paid training and support for additional certifications and licenses
- Steady, year-round work with a stable local company
