SUMMARY: The Apprentice Electrician will work under the direct supervision of a Journeyman in support of maintenance, operations, and repair of electrical systems in the oil & gas industry. They will help perform installations and maintenance tasks to ensure the effective operations of various electrical equipment. This will involve basic tasks such as handling the tools and may also include working independently from the Journeyman on electrical tasks requiring less skill or experience. As the Electrical Apprentice progresses, they will be given more independence in completing tasks. Therefore, they are responsible for learning all procedures for installing and maintaining electrical systems and local and federal regulations and safety requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Apprentice Electrician will assist with testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and replacing defective parts. The Electrician Apprentice and Electrician will collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and solve problems.
- The Apprentice Electrician will assist the Electrician complete electrical wiring tasks, alignment adjustments, and equipment calibration following manuals, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and
- May install, maintain and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices
- Complies with standards and procedures of industry, Safety Manual, and abides by safety rules.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Obtaining Electrical Trainee Certification according to state requirements
- Having some electrical service work experience
- Demonstrating knowledge of electrical codes
- Color Vision: Apprentice electricians work with colored wiring and must be able to identify them by sight.
- Troubleshooting: Apprentice electricians must be able to find the root cause of issues and think logically about solutions.
- Customer Service: Apprentice electricians often work for many different customers and must be friendly when working on site.
- Critical Thinking: When diagnosing problems, apprentice electricians must think critically in their process of repairing the issue.
- Mechanical Skills: Apprentice electricians read blueprints and schematics and use various tools and diagnostic devices to service and install electrical parts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Willing to work 40 - 60 hours per week and be available for callouts
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, and stand for extended periods
- Adverse working environment: Exposure to noise, extreme temperature, dirt, dangerous machinery, and other hazardous conditions requiring safety adherence and /or PPE equipment.
