Safety Manager

Job Summary

 A highly motivated, results-oriented, and effective Safety Manager who provides the leadership role in developing and managing the implementation of proactive safety & health programs that protect the corporation and individuals against the financial and physical impact of loss arising from, but not limited to, injury/illness, workers’ compensation, general liability, auto, and property losses.

Core Role Responsibilities

v Regulatory Compliance: Maintain adherence to OSHA and EPA guidelines.

v Risk Assessment & Audits: Execute routine facility inspections, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and ergonomic studies to identify and eliminate hazards.

v Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause analyses for accidents, injuries, and near-misses, and implement corrective and preventative actions.

v Employee Training: Develop and deliver regulatory and job-specific safety training, including new-hire orientation, lockout-tagout (LOTO), and machining guarding.

v Emergency Preparedness: Design and update emergency response plans, including fire drills, evacuation routes, and severe weather protocols.

v Metrics & Reporting: Monitor and analyze safety KPIs such as incident rates and workers’ compensation data to report trends to plant leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

v Provide continuous safety training for employees on safety policies, regulations, and procedures.

v Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations

v Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines.

v Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.

v Implement critical 6 safety programs.

v Ability to conduct monthly area audits for program effectiveness.  

Qualifications

 Education/Certification:

v Diploma or certification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering.

v Preferred credentials include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM).

 Experience/Skills:

v 2-5 years of progressive safety management experience within an industrial or manufacturing setting.

v Strong interpersonal skills

v Ability to lead and teach a team

v Great attention to detail.

v Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

v Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms.

v Excellent organizational skills.

Knowledge:

Physical Requirements

v Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted

v Able to stand, kneel, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods

v Must tolerate exposure to warm and humid kitchen conditions
