The Production Manager will oversee and optimize production operations within our innovative land-based Salmon Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). This role will be responsible for managing the overall production output, ensuring efficient operations, and adherence to SOPs. The Production Manager will focus on people management, production planning, change management, and process optimization, ensuring that the facility runs at peak efficiency while supporting the growth and welfare of the fish and the team.
Primary Job Functions

- Lead and manage the overall production output to meet or exceed company targets.
- Develop and implement production plans that align with organizational goals, resource availability, and market demand.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as feed conversion ratio, growth rates, and mortality rates to optimize performance and maintain high standards of fish health and quality.
- Regularly assess and optimize production processes, including feed management, water quality monitoring, and environmental control. Provide regular production performance reports to senior management.
- Analyze production data and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance production outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of all production activities, including feed management, fish health monitoring, environmental conditions, and fish movements.
- Oversee the management and coordination of fish movements within the facility, ensuring smooth transitions between tanks and production stages.
- Adhere to bio-planning strategies, including stocking schedules, growth assessments, and fish density management.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure stocking and harvest schedules are well-maintained, supporting optimal conditions for fish health and productivity.
- Accurately forecast production volumes and timelines, considering historical trends, environmental conditions, and other influencing factors.
- Work closely with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to provide accurate volume projections and adjust production strategies to meet market demand.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply while minimizing waste and inefficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and biosecurity protocols to maintain sustainable and safe production environments.
- Lead and mentor staff, providing guidance on daily operations, process improvements, and troubleshooting.
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture that encourages teamwork, continuous learning, and professional growth.
- Facilitate communication between departments, including collaboration with fish health, maintenance, and aquaculture managers.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the production process.
- Oversee biosecurity measures to protect fish health.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree – Business Management, Environmental Science, Aquaculture, Biology or related field or equivalent education and experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years in production or operations management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing production teams, optimizing processes, and meeting performance targets.
- Experience in people management, production planning, change management, and process optimization.
Licenses or Certifications
- Driver’s License
- Lean, Six Sigma Certification Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with data management and production tracking software (e.g., SCADA, RAS control systems, etc.).
- Strong understanding of production systems, process optimization, and efficiency improvements.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
