Duties
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems, sensors, and related low voltage electrical components in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, system design documents, and CAD drawings to ensure accurate installation and modifications.
- Conduct construction inspections to verify compliance with safety codes and project specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and field service on fire alarm systems across various sites to ensure optimal operation.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to install sensors, alarms, control panels, and wiring accurately.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to integrate fire alarm systems seamlessly into building infrastructure.
- Assist in fire sprinkler fitting and mechanical integration when required for comprehensive life safety solutions.
- Conduct system testing using specialized tools to verify sensor functionality and alarm activation; document findings meticulously.
- Provide expert advice on system design improvements or upgrades; support alarm system sales initiatives through technical consultations.
- Ensure all work complies with local codes (such as NEC), industry standards, and safety regulations while maintaining high quality workmanship.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer specializing in fire alarm systems or low voltage electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and CAD drawings related to fire alarm system design and installation.
- Hands-on experience with fire sprinkler fitting, construction inspection, or mechanical trades is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with sensors, control panels, alarms, power supplies, and other fire detection components.
- Electrical experience including wiring methods compliant with NEC standards; ability to read electrical schematics confidently.
- Demonstrated ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely while maintaining precision in installation tasks.
- Experience in sales support for fire alarm or fire sprinkler systems is a plus—helping clients understand system benefits and upgrades.
