- Collect and review medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards
- Process insurance claims accurately using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, working with managed care providers to resolve issues promptly
- Maintain detailed records of insurance verifications, billing transactions, and patient interactions
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper documentation and coding for billing purposes
- Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and out-of-pocket responsibilities
Experience
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, preferably with dental or outpatient clinics
- Strong knowledge of managed care processes and insurance verification procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding standards (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10)
- Experience handling insurance claims processing, denials management, and follow-up activities
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Office experience demonstrating organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
