Role Summary
Superior Decks and Railings, a leader in custom architectural metal fabrication, is seeking an experienced, proactive, and analytical Purchasing Coordinator. You will take ownership of our procurement workflows, material sourcing, and vendor relationship management. By partnering directly with our custom fabrication and project management teams, you will keep materials moving to support our active production schedule.
The core of this role is managing our supply chain from purchase order through final delivery. You will work side-by-side with operations to streamline inventory data and navigate supply chain shifts using your learned skills. We need a driven professional who can resolve procurement bottlenecks, maintain data integrity within our ERP system, and improve vendor reliability.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement Ownership
· Manage the complete end-to-end purchasing cycle for raw materials, hardware, and specialized custom metal fabrication components.
· Ensure all production demands are met on time.
Vendor Management & Negotiation
· Maintain and strengthen relations with existing vendors.
· Evaluate supplier performance (lead times, quality, pricing).
· Identify cost-saving or consolidation opportunities.
Data & ERP Integrity
· Maintain precise data within our ERP and inventory tracking systems.
· Take ownership of parts database accuracy.
· Resolve invoicing or receiving discrepancies.
· Ensure real-time inventory visibility.
Advanced Material & Excel Analytics
· Utilize advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas) and data tracking models to analyze usage trends.
· Forecast material requirements and establish optimal safety stock levels.
Production Alignment
· Partner closely with warehouse management and the shop floor to anticipate shifting project timelines.
· Manage lead times and prevent material stockouts or production delays.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
· Look beyond basic data to solve logistics or supply chain challenges.
· Spot potential inventory risks early and make fast, informed sourcing decisions.
Qualifications
· Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated procurement or purchasing experience, specifically within a manufacturing, custom fabrication, structural steel, or industrial environment.
· System Skills: Strong proficiency working within ERP/MRP software architectures and advanced capability with Microsoft Excel.
· Technical Savvy: Proven ability to learn, track, and master highly complex, technical part numbers and bills of materials (BOM).
· Education: A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience in industrial purchasing and custom manufacturing will be highly valued.
Physical Demands
· Primarily office-based but requires regular mobility and collaboration inside an active manufacturing warehouse.
· Sit for extended periods working at a desk and computer.
· Stand or walk for extended periods while verifying inventory or auditing bin locations on the shop floor.
· Occasionally lift, move, or handle parts and materials weighing up to 30–50 lbs when checking incoming freight or resolving inventory discrepancies.
· Routinely transition between a standard, temperature-controlled office space and a dynamic, industrial fabrication environment.
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
