Summary/Objective

Job Description

An integral project team member who works directly with the Project Manager to ensure successful execution of a project in a safe and profitable manner.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the successful execution of all field activities in line with project construction drawings, specifications, schedule, and budget.
  • Directly coordinates both self-perform and subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Fosters and maintains a safe and inclusive work environment.
  • Manages all craft crews, equipment, and material to obtain optimum production of self-perform activities.
  • Develops other project team members.
  • Collaborates with team members to meet schedule and tackle construction challenges.
  • Performs constructability reviews as project drawings are developed.
  • Foster and maintain favorable relationships with project stake holders.
  • Recruit / recommend and hire qualified individuals to maintain high performing teams.
  • Market and promote the Superior Construction brand.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Implement and monitor programs as directed by management
  • Works independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects

Supervisory Requirements

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. Must be able to walk across rugged terrain, climb substantial heights, and work over and on water. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly requires work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The incumbent occasionally lifts heavy objects, walks, and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.

The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position. This position frequently requires long hours, holidays and weekend work.

Travel

The role requires significant travel, up to 30%.

Required Education And Experience

  • Minimum fifteen years of industry tenure with 5 years working as a superintendent on a heavy civil project
  • Strong knowledge of highway and bridge construction means and methods
  • Field-based leadership roles on projects over $50M
  • Design Build experience preferred
  • TDOT experience preferred

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license before employment.
  • OSHA Safety Training
