General Summary:
Fabricates, prototypes, and modifies specialized metal components, tools, and fixtures for pre-production vehicles. Interprets, and refines blueprints to craft parts, working with CNC machines, laser cutters, press brakes, and manual tools to ensure precise, high-quality fit and form before manufacturing.
Position Responsibilities:
· Setting up and operating fabricating machines including break press, metal muncher, rollers, etc.
- Layout, trim, saw, sand, shear, punch, brake or otherwise fabricate parts per established procedures and production and quality standards.
- Qualify part details to tooling, fixtures, and models to print specifications.
- Set up and operate CNC-mill machines or laser equipment to fabricate model parts.
- Lay out, measure, and inspect part dimensions to blueprints, internal drawings, or written instructions using height gauges, micrometers, dial instructions, and calipers.
- Process all necessary documentation before moving parts to the next operation.
- Identify process improvements and cost saving initiatives.
- Maintain housekeep in area, and follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or when required by customer
Qualifications and Skills:
· Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, datum’s tolerances, and quality standards
· Qualifying sheet metal parts to fit models, check fixtures and or print specifications
· Experience with CNC machines and conventional metal shop tools
· Ability to utilize high-precision measuring tools
· Familiarity with welding, soldering, and finishing techniques
· Ability to communicate and provide feedback
Preferred Education & Experience:
· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
· 1-2 years previous in sheet metal or exhibit the aptitude for being trained into the position
- Prior experience in industrial fabrication and machining, specifically within a prototype or tool and die setting
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Union
This is a full-time hourly position ranging between 40 - 56 hours per week based on workload. Regular work week is Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are scheduled based on workload of the shop.
Work Environment: job operates in a shop floor environment. This role routinely uses large machines and tools throughout the shop floor.
