General Summary Description
The Logistics Dispatcher coordinates and communicates with drivers and their trucks on a daily basis. There are both planning functions and reactive functions that take place in this position while the dispatcher effectively and efficiently coordinates the hauling of construction materials to job and material sites.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Interfaces with carriers, crews and departments daily
- Receives and responds to emergency and non-emergency calls
- Addresses challenges and opportunities by transmitting information and providing solutions
- Reviews, plans and coordinates trucking capacity for daily operational needs
- Utilizes software to monitor and analyze trucking efficiency and performance
- Enters data into software to document daily activities
- Optimizes trucking production efficiency and cost on a daily and project basis
- Assists in training crews and departments on selected software
- Works with Accounting to answer payment questions
- Assists in collection of paperwork related to contract, insurance and authority requirements
Minimum Requirements, Abilities and Expectations
- Preferred, 1-3 years related experience
- Proficient in logistics software
- Excellent customer service
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Maintain a flexible and dependable schedule that requires attention outside of normal working hours
