Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct repairs on various vehicle systems including powertrain, electrical systems, transmissions, and diesel engines.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic problems.
- Execute vehicle maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake repairs, wheel alignments, and tire rotations with precision.
- Repair or replace components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and specialized automotive repair tools.
- Collaborate with service advisors to provide accurate auto estimating and communicate repair needs clearly to customers.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to provide cutting-edge service.
- Assist in diagnosing issues related to GM vehicles or other makes with a focus on quality workmanship.
- Support ongoing training in automotive electrical systems, transmissions, diesel engine repair, and welding techniques to enhance skill set.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or similar automotive service technician background demonstrating hands-on repair skills.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, schematics interpretation, and electrical systems troubleshooting.
- Experience working with ADAS technology, wheel alignment equipment, and powertrain components preferred.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures across various models including GM vehicles is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software effectively.
- Prior service technician experience involving auto estimating, customer service interactions, and repair documentation.
- Mechanical knowledge complemented by experience in diesel engine repair, transmissions, and automotive electrical systems.
