General Definition of Work
The executive director of executive services, under minimal supervision, performs senior-level work with extensive decision-making discretion overseeing the effective and efficient operation of the offices of the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Chief of Staff by managing executive logistics, coordinating district leadership workflows, and ensuring the smooth execution of administrative priorities. This role serves as a key operational leader within the central office, working closely with internal departments, district leadership, and the Board of Education to support district-wide initiatives and high-level executive functions under the direction of the Chief of Staff.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the offices of the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Chief of Staff, ensuring smooth execution of schedules, communications, and administrative processes
- Coordinate the preparation of reports, briefings, and presentations for the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Chief of Staff
- Maintain systems for tracking tasks, requests, and deadlines to ensure timely and organized follow-through on executive-level initiatives
- Support the execution of special projects aligned with the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Chief of Staff priorities
- Track progress and timelines for cross-functional initiatives involving district departments, school sites, or community stakeholders
- Develop and deliver project updates and status reports for Cabinet and Board review
- Coordinate logistics and materials for Board of Education meetings in collaboration with Board Operations
- Support the preparation of Board agenda items, briefing documents, and follow-up actions
- Ensure timely communication and document flow between the executive offices and Board members; facilitate internal communication between the executive offices and department leaders, school principals, and administrative staff
- Serve as a point of contact for stakeholder inquiries directed to Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, or Chief of Staff, ensuring timely and appropriate responses
- Plan and coordinate logistics, agendas, materials, and follow-up for Cabinet and other executive-led convenings
- Ensure meeting materials are prepared in advance, and all action items are tracked to completion
- Maintain and improve internal systems for filing, communication, scheduling, and executive documentation
- Manage budgets or financial processes related to executive travel, meeting logistics, and special initiatives, as applicable
- Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
- Facilitate meetings or professional development, and attend other related meetings as needed/required
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations

- Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public-school systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to public school systems
- Knowledge of challenges facing large school districts

- Skilled in writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, public administration or related area required
- Master’s degree in school administration preferred
- NC Certification (Teacher or Principal) preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as school or district administrator preferred
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
