Position Summary
The AutoCAD Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and layouts used for manufacturing, fabrication, and installation of company products. This role works closely with the sales team, engineering staff, and production managers to translate customer specifications and project requirements into accurate AutoCAD drawings that can be used by production and installation teams. The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD proficiency, excellent time management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to ensure drawings are completed accurately and on schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Create, modify, and maintain detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD based on project specifications, engineering notes, and customer requirements.
- Interpret sketches, specifications, and design concepts provided by engineering or sales teams and convert them into precise CAD drawings.
- Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and compliant with company drafting standards and manufacturing requirements.
- Collaborate with the sales department to understand project scope, customer specifications, and required deliverables.
- Work directly with production managers to ensure drawings are feasible for manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Update and revise drawings as project requirements change or improvements are identified.
- Maintain organized documentation of drawings, revisions, and project files within company systems.
- Review drawings prior to release to production to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project specifications.
- Assist with design improvements, layout adjustments, and troubleshooting drawing-related issues during production.
- Support engineering and project teams with drafting needs for new product development or custom orders.
Qualifications
- Proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, design, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of drafting or CAD experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment preferred.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to complete drawings within required deadlines.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and design instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, and production.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
