Job Summary:
The Student Counseling Services Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to students, including assessment, treatment, outreach, and consultation. This role supports student well-being and success through clinical care, prevention programming, and collaboration with campus partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial intake assessments and provide treatment recommendations to students
- Provide short- and long-term individual psychotherapy, including some early evening hours (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.)
- Facilitate group psychotherapy for students
- Perform risk assessments and make referrals as appropriate
- Develop and deliver outreach and preventive programming
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical services
- Participate in Student Counseling Services (SCS) staff meetings and Student Affairs meetings
- Represent Student Counseling Services on University and departmental committees
- Consult with faculty and staff regarding student concerns
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited academic program. NYS license as a Psychologist or NYS license-eligible within 12 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
NYS licensed Psychologist and at least two years post-graduate experience providing individual outpatient therapy to undergraduate or graduate students. At least one year post-graduate experience providing individual clinical services to students in a collegiate Student Counseling setting. Experience providing diagnostic assessment, risk assessment, group therapy, and preventive/outreach programming. Experience and expertise in the treatment of adult ADD/ADHD and/or eating disorders. Experience providing clinical supervision to unlicensed clinicians/trainees.
Work Days:
Mon-Fri, variable shifts ranging from 9:00am to 6:00pm
