SUNY Schenectady County Community College seeks a full-time Student Success Manager to join their team.
The SUNY Schenectady Office of College and High School Partnerships overseas a large New York State grant that supports the Early College High School (ECHS) program. At SUNY Schenectady, this program is modeled after existing early college high schools and is in partnership with the Schenectady City School District (SCSD). ECHS is focused on providing a college-level academic experiences to high school students and primarily overseas students on Smart Scholars, Smart Transfer, and Smart Tech/PTech pathways. These students earn credit towards an Associated Degree from SUNY Schenectady while in high school.
Reporting to the Director of College and High School Partnerships the Student Success Manager is a full-time position, responsible for the management and leadership of the Student Success Staff and Outreach to all current and potential Early College students, both at Schenectady High School sites and SUNY Schenectady. The Student Success Manager is responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience for students in an effort to increase student retention, success, and completion.
This position is a 12-month, grant-funded position and is subject to renewal based upon performance evaluation and continued availability of grant funding
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The incumbent has supervisory responsibility for the Early College Success Coaches.
Responsibilities:
Supervises the scheduling of staff and volunteers for appropriate coverage during hours of operations at multiple sites, along with student and recruitment events, which may include evening and weekend hours.
Monitors students' schedules, course selection, credits, grades, and attendance.
Oversees Early College Social Media and Program Newsletters.
Oversee the Early College Recruitment processes in close collaboration with the Project Director, Success Coaches, and District staff.
Collaborate with Schenectady City School District Staff and College Staff to identify and develop intervention strategies for student success and ensure communication with Early College students.
Oversee a caseload of Early College students which includes working with students and communities from a broad range of backgrounds and life experiences to build relationships that contribute to engagement, retention, and successful completion of grant objectives.
Participate in College and District Open House Events to educate attendees about the Early College programming, events, and offered student supports.
Maintains data on students who use the services and programming provided.
Occasional evening and weekend hours required (e.g., Field Trips, Volunteering, Orientation, etc.).
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
At least two years' experience working with students in a support role in higher education or an 6-12 grade educational setting
One year of leadership or supervisory experience
Skilled at connecting and building rapport with high school aged students
Demonstrated effectiveness in both verbal and written communication, with strong organizational skills and experience engaging individuals and groups through various platforms, including websites, brochures, and student messaging systems
Must have flexibility and reliable transportation to travel between multiple site locations
Ability to accurately track data and identify opportunities for process improvement
Ability to work autonomously
Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
At least two years' experience in higher education
Direct supervisor/management experience of a staff of 3-5 individuals
