What are the responsibilities and job description for the User Services Librarian - Newburgh Campus - SUNY Orange position at SUNY Orange?
The User Services Librarian is responsible for providing primary managerial oversight for circulation and interlibrary loan services at the Newburgh Campus Library.
The User Services Librarian instructs, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates assigned personnel and is responsible for the completion of local Library Management System upgrades and maintenance relating to the circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserve components. The User Services Librarian manages the library's social media presence and maintains the library's web site, LibGuides and utilization of the College's course management system. This position will work closely with the Library Instruction Team, teach research strategy and the effective use of library resources in an active, course-related information literacy instruction program and collaborates with faculty to integrate library use into the curriculum and achieve instructional goals. This position also participates in the reference services desk rotation and online chat reference, including weekends and evening hours.
Job Requirements:
Education Required: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited academic institution.
Experience Required: Experience and knowledge of electronic information resources and technologies. Familiarity with an integrated library system and circulation department functions.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
- Experience with lliad and OCLC resource sharing.
- Experience teaching library instruction classes.
- Supervisory experience.
- Community college or higher-education experience.
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents and the public.
- Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to coordinate workflow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to present complex information and data in a coherent fashion.
- Must be able to travel between the College's two campuses and other sites.
- Bilingual Skills.
