Description of Duties
Under the supervision of the Dining Management, the Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures that the dishwashing area is clean, safe, and sanitary.
Principal Duties
- Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware, and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through the dish machine.
- Sort and stack clean dishes. Rewash soiled dishes. Return clean dishes to proper storage areas.
- Set up or break down the dishwashing area.
- Set up and maintain a 3-bay washing sink and change the water as needed.
- Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry. Sweep/mop floors as necessary.
- Notify the manager of any time the dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures.
- Wash hands before touching clean dishes.
- Maintain the dish machine’s daily routine and de-lime the machine once a week.
- Soak coffee cups in bleach solutions once a week.

- Serves on committees as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a kitchen environment. This role routinely uses sinks, dishwashers, and tools to clean kitchen appliances. Employees in this role are frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals, and cleaning chemicals.

An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and stoop or kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
Required Education
- High school diploma.
- Must be NRA ServSafe certified within one year of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Dishwashing experience is preferred.
Position Type and Expected Schedule
Monday: 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Tuesday & Wednesday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Friday: 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
