Day Care Aide- Provisional - SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Day Care Aide to support the daily operations of our Child Care Center. The position plays an important role in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. The Day Care Aide
works under the direct supervision of a Day Care Assistant or other designated supervisor. This position follows a typical Monday through Friday schedule and is provisional,
pending successful completion of the Civil Service testing requirement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist with daily care routines, including feeding, diapering, toileting, and
monitoring children's well-being.
Support classroom activities such as crafts, games, outdoor play, story time, and other educational or recreational programs.
Encourage children's participation, monitor behavior, and assist as needed to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
Help maintain order, discipline, and safety in classrooms and during outings.
Prepare activity spaces and ensure rooms remain clean, organized, and well supplied.
Support mealtime routines, feeding children, and monitoring the group. Participate in required in-service training sessions.
Refer concerns or issues to the Day Care Assistant or supervising staff. Assist with record-keeping and other center operations, as needed.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; OR
One year of experience working with children in a child care, early childhood development, or children's recreational program; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of preschool child care practices and techniques.
Basic understanding of first aid.
Ability to build positive relationships with young children.
Ability to maintain order and discipline in a child care setting.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain simple records and perform physically demanding tasks.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Willingness to work in conditions that may involve noise, odors, or other
challenging environments.
Additional Information
The hourly rate for this position is $16.50.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory,
required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
