The Opportunity
Job Title: Information Technology (IT) Help Desk Technician Level I
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Information Technology
Reports to: IT Junior Administrator
Location: McFarland, CA
General Summary
Entry-level position serving as the first point of contact for technical support. Responsible for general day-to-day Help Desk tasks. Under general supervision, learn and perform essential operational duties related to maintaining and supporting the Company’s information technology systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as initial point of contact for user support via phone, email, or in person
- Log, track, and resolve Help Desk tickets in a timely manner
- Provision, upgrade, and maintain a variety of devices (laptops, desktops, and wireless devices)
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets (including peripherals and networking equipment)
- Repair, replace, and maintain IT hardware
- Follow-up with users to ensure issues are resolved
- Assist in testing and supporting new technology including GIS technology
- Support IT Managers for on-going projects
- Maintain general cleanliness of work area and shared spaces
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Windows & MacOS operating systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Apps (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneDrive, Teams, etc)
- Ability to diagnose troubleshoot basic Help Desk tickets
- Mathematical ability to calculate basic arithmetic problems without the aid of a calculator
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively read and understand information contained in memos, reports, and bulletins
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and technical documentation
- Effective time management skills to meet deadlines
- Dependable, adaptable, and punctual
- Willingness to complete IT certifications
- Valid California Class C driver's license with a good driving record
Physical Demands
- Demonstrated sufficient dexterity of hands, arms, and fingers to be able to perform the principal responsibilities of the job to use required computer, tools, and equipment
- Ability to bend, push, pull, and repeatedly lift up to 20lbs
Environment
- Work will be performed in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying environmental conditions. · The position also involves exposure to typical computer and paper related noises.
- Work schedule may vary depending on severity or demand of Help Desk tickets
Hours and Workdays
8:00AM- 5:00PM, Monday- Friday; Flexibility to work earlier hours or occasional Saturdays may be required depending on seasonal needs
