Sunstates Security is hiring a FLEX/Utility Security Officer in the Cleveland / Salisbury, NC area.
This position requires OPEN AVAILABILITY for ALL SHIFTS and ALL DAYS.
Position Overview
The Unarmed Utility Officer is an on-call position responsible for covering posts as needed due to call-offs, staffing shortages, or client-requested additional coverage. Candidates must have open availability and be able to quickly adapt to different sites and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed notes and knowledge of all trained sites to ensure seamless coverage when filling in.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Accurately track hours worked and submit timesheets to the Operations Manager by 10:00 AM each Friday.
Quality Standards
Report to work whether called in or scheduled in advance; arrive on time and complete assigned shifts (including overtime, if needed).
Refusal to accept assignments may result in:
- Reduced weekly hours
- Removal from the Utility Program
Maintain a neat, professional appearance in a clean and complete uniform.
No smoking on assigned posts.
Provide professional, friendly customer service at all times.
Communicate clearly (verbal and written) and handle both routine and crisis situations effectively.
Follow and enforce all post orders, client, and company policies.
Promptly report all site concerns to management.
Qualifications
- Clean driving record required for driving posts.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in security, law enforcement, or military (manager discretion).
- Basic computer and cell phone literacy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Open availability is a must — able to work flexible schedules including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation to work sites.
- Self-motivated and able to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Must maintain reliable communication to be reachable by management.
A Security Officer may perform a multitude of duties as specified by the Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Security Officer will read and become extremely knowledgeable of Post Orders and SOP and will be able to act quickly and efficiently according to such directives.
