Assistant Teacher Summer Program

Sunshine Montessori in Billerica, MA is seeking a dedicated and passionate preschool Assistant Teacher who has experience working with young children for the Summer program- July - August. This position can be converted to a full school year position for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

- Assist Lead teachers in the development and implementation of age-appropriate curriculum

- Provide support to Lead teachers in behavior management and create a positive learning environment

- Assist with the care and supervision of preschool-aged children - Collaborate with lead teachers to plan and execute daily activities - Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team

Duties and Expectations:

• Supporting the Lead Teacher and the children in the classroom
• Helping with transitions, supervising recess and lunch time
• Ability to work with students aged 2 years 9 months up to 6 years old
• Communicating any updates, changes or concerns to the Lead Teacher and Director.
• Creating a fun, peaceful and safe environment for the students in the classroom and during transitions
• A high level of kindness, empathy and enjoyment of working with children

Qualifications and Skills:

Montessori training is NOT required but is a plus

Candidates must be EEC licensed OR have the necessary classes and experience to be qualified.

At least one year of professional experience working with young children in the above age group in a Montessori setting

Appropriate classroom and behavior management skills

Organization skills

Help with the preparation work for summer activities and crafts

First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to get within 6 months of employment)
