Position Summary
The In-Home Caregiver provides personal care, household support, companionship, and basic health-related services in accordance with client service plans and Oregon Administrative Rules. Care is delivered with dignity, respect, and a focus on maintaining client independence.
Caregivers assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) as authorized by the care plan.
Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care Services
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Support transfers, ambulation, and positioning
- Provide incontinence care as needed
Household & Support Services
- Light housekeeping (cleaning, organizing, laundry)
- Meal planning, preparation, and clean-up
- Grocery shopping and errands
Companionship & Emotional Support
- Provide social interaction and engagement
- Encourage participation in activities and routines
- Promote independence and quality of life
Health & Safety Support
- Medication reminders or assistance (as allowed by OAR)
- Observe and report changes in condition
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
Transportation Assistance
- Escort clients to appointments, errands, and community activities
Documentation & Compliance
- Follow individualized service plans
- Complete required documentation and visit verification
- Maintain client confidentiality and rights
Minimum Qualifications (Oregon Requirements)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Pass a criminal background check and eligibility screening
- Complete required orientation and training prior to or during employment
- Ability to perform essential caregiving tasks safely
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous caregiving or healthcare experience
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Training & Compliance
- Completion of state-required caregiver training and competency evaluation
- Ongoing continuing education as required
- Adherence to all Oregon Health Authority and DHS regulations
