What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Coordinator/Medical Assistant position at Sunshine Dermatology?
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Medical Office Coordinator to work collaboratively with both front and back office to assist in obtaining prior authorizations, billing tasks, appointment scheduling, and answering patient inquiries.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Manage appointment calendar efficiently, ensuring appointments are booked accurately, confirming patient attendance, and optimizing the schedule for staff productivity and patient experience
Work with front desk team in greeting patients, checking in and checking out patients, rooming patients, turning over exam rooms, collecting payments, answering phone calls in timely fashion, entering patient information, scheduling appointments, processing paperwork, secures all necessary documentation to register the patient's visit, maintaining cleanliness of the clinic including restroom tidiness, emptying trash and recycling, and organizing inventory.
Coordinate referrals, facilitate insurance and medication prior authorization, verifying insurance information and coverage, reconciling daily collection sheets
Billing tasks such as record and reconcile payments received from insurance companies and patients, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies or denials, enter claim information, handle claim rejections and appeals, resolve billing issues to secure timely reimbursement.
Assists with other related tasks including medical record requests, reviewing accounts, communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, insurance coverage, and payment options, providing clear and courteous explanations of billing procedures and resolving concerns or disputes. Provide medical, surgical, and cosmetic quotes, and coordinate surgery scheduling as needed
Experience:
Experience with precertifications/authorizations and prior medical billing, accounts receivable, insurance related experience preferred. Proficiency in office software applications, scheduling systems, and electronic record-keeping is required.
Efficiency, meticulousness, exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, keen eye for detail, and great customer service skills are important to succeed in this position.
Requirements:
- 2 years of healthcare experience in the outpatient setting.
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, time management skills and follow appropriate procedures when setting priorities and handling stressful situations.
- Experience required in using EMR systems, insurance verification, eligibility, and electronic billing.
- Requires general and specific knowledge of health insurance plans and interpretation of health insurance benefits.
- Strong work ethic, reliable, professionalism
- Plastic Surgery or Dermatology experience is a plus
