Role Description
This is a full-time on-site Manufacturing Engineering Intern role based in Elgin, IL. Flexibility to work out of the downtown office in Chicago is also a possibility. You must be able to transport yourself to and between work locations. Relocation assistance not provided. The dates of this role are from May-August, in alignment with common college summer breaks, but preference will be given to any candidates able to start sooner and there is a potential for the role to continue past August.
The intern will collaborate with the engineering team to support manufacturing operations, optimize production processes, and assist in the implementation of new manufacturing projects. Daily tasks include conducting process evaluations, preparing technical reports, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and participating in team training sessions. The intern will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, contributing to the improvement of efficiency and product quality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support facility planning, including developing process workflows, assisting in layout creation, etc.
- Generate work instructions aligned with new and existing manufacturing processes.
- Creating and maintaining a project schedule for implementation of new manufacturing operations.
- Organizing and creating 3D models for manufactured products.
- Partake in relevant training on company policies, regulatory and quality practices, safety, etc.
- Collaborate with Quality Department, Operations Department, Supply Chain, and Business Development as needed.
Position Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program (or higher) in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, industrial engineering, etc. from an ABET accredited engineering school.
- Experience related to duties and responsibilities listed above.
- Technical aptitude and an ability to troubleshoot design and mechanical problems.
- Additional internship experience in related industries is preferred.
- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar is preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 standards, cGMP, cGDP, and QMS systems is preferred.
