What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farmers Market Sales Staff position at Sunset Farm?
Sunset Farm is a USDA Certified Organic Vegetable, Fruit, and Flower farm located in Naugatuck and Milford, Connecticut. We are a diversified operation, growing over 100 varieties of vegetables, fruit, and cut flowers on roughly 15 acres. We are a four season operation, growing in unheated high tunnels at our Naugatuck location in the winter. Sunset Farm has a 100 member CSA, several wholesale accounts, donates to food recovery organizations, and attends the following markets: Monroe Farmers Market, Ridgefield Farmers Market, CitySeed Edgewood Park Farmers Market, and the Naugatuck Farmers Market. We also have a weekly farm stand June through October at our Milford location.
Market Staff
Responsibilities:
- Traveling to and from farmers markets in Sunset Farm vehicle
- Setting up and managing farm display during farmers markets
- Facilitating sales of produce and flowers through sales software, including conducting cash, credit, and nutrition benefit transactions.
- Engaging in friendly and helpful customer service
Requirements:
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Customer service or sales background strongly preferred
- 18 years old
- Able to lift about 50 lbs
- Ability to use Square sales software
- Ability to manage time and have a sense of urgency
- Ability to communicate effectively with other crew members
Part Time Positions:
-Fridays (1-7 pm), Saturdays (7 am-3 pm), Sundays (8 am - 2 pm)
-June through October
