What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Dermatology Medical Assistant (English/Spanish)2 years Exp position at Sunset Dermatology?
JOB SUMMARY: Provides chair-side assistance for the providers and administers treatments as ordered. Prepares exam rooms, escorts patients to a room and prepares them for the providers. Assists in patient education regarding medications and what to expect after cosmetic procedures. A strong command of the English language, both spoken and written, is essential.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High School diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
2. Two years of experience in a dermatology office as a medical assistant preferred.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of medical terminology and skincare terminology a plus
2. Exceptional communication, grammar and interpersonal skills
3. Ability to work as a team member
4. Ability to write medical prescriptions
5. Well-organized with attention to detail
6. Empathetic with patient needs and concerns
7. Treats patients and co-workers with respect
8. Basic knowledge of all cosmetic procedures
9. Ability to work with all providers
10. Must be Proficient reading and writing in English**
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting providers with general dermatology, surgical, and cosmetic procedures
- Perform minor wound care
- Ensures proper charting
- Sets up exam room according to the scheduled procedure or anticipates provider's needs
- Formulates and obtains proper informed consent
- Ensures that providers always have assistance
- Returns phone calls to patients, pharmacies, etc., to ensure continuity of communication
- Clean and restocks exam rooms
- Performs other duties and tasks for providers in the office.
Experience:
- Medical Assistant: 2 years (Preferred)
- Must be Proficient reading and writing in English**
- Compensation based on experience***
