Leveraging an unmatched network of trusted partners and installers, tech-enabled operational efficiency, and a proprietary underwriting method, we design solar and distributed generation solutions tailored to the needs of organizations previously unable to access the benefits of solar energy. Our approach enables businesses to maximize the benefits of solar and distributed energy solutions, regardless of project size. We offer Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with zero upfront investment, positioning us as the trusted platform for commercial solar DG projects.

Role Description

Sunrock is seeking an Analyst or Senior Analyst to support the evaluation and execution of battery energy storage system (BESS) opportunities across our growing distributed generation and storage platform. This role will roll up to the VP of Structured Finance and will collaborate closely with Business Development, Development, and Engineering.

This role will analyze customer energy data, utility tariffs, market incentive programs, grid services program guideline, and battery operating assumptions to size the energy storage system to maximize customer value and support internal return requirements. This team member will translate program requirements, technical data and market information into revenue streams that support the evaluation of project economics and risk profiles.

This is a highly analytical position with exposure to live project work and pricing decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Build Excel-based analyses to evaluate battery storage opportunities across customer, tariff, and operating scenarios in SDG’s active markets
  • Review utility bills, interval data, load profiles, and demand charges to generate value propositions
  • Model storage value drivers such as peak shaving, time-of-use savings, demand response, and grid services
  • Support recommendations on battery size and operating strategy based on customer value, market rules, and technical feasibility
  • Monitor policy, tariff, incentive, and utility program changes that may affect project economics
  • Prepare reports and decision materials that summarize assumptions, findings, risks, and recommended next steps.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Structured Finance, Development, Engineering, and external partners to validate assumptions and prepare decision materials.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, business, or energy-related field.
  • 2 years of professional experience in an analytical role, including experience with Excel, data analysis, or comparable analytical work.
  • Experience with battery storage or renewable energy modeling, including basic familiarity with storage system operations.
  • High attention to detail and strong organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple project workstreams against deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain analysis clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience with energy modeling tools and variable use cases.
  • Exposure to utility tariffs, incentive programs, demand response programs, or energy policy.
