Quality Control Citrus Line

Sunrise Produce
Allen, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 7/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/5/2026

The primary responsibility of the Citrus Line QC Specialist is to monitor the quality of finished products across the various equipment lines operating within the Citrus area (Aweta, AG Pack, Daumar, and the Standard Line). To this end, the specialist must conduct quality control (QC) analyses for every order processed on each specific line. Additionally, the Line QC Specialist is responsible for overseeing defect sampling to ensure that all equipment remains properly calibrated. The role also entails maintaining hourly productivity records, which involves direct interaction with the operators of each equipment line. Although this position reports operationally to the Area Supervisor, it reports functionally to the Product Planner; consequently, the specialist serves as the Planner’s "eyes on the ground" within the operation and is required to immediately notify the Planner of any deviations related to product quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain open and close communication with the Shift Supervisor, the operators, and the Product Planner.
  • Review the daily/shift Repackaging Plan in conjunction with the Shift Supervisor.
  • Be familiar with the quality standards and product packaging formats required by each client.
  • Be familiar with the most common defects found in the products being handled.
  • Know the tolerance limits for each specific defect in order to distinguish between Grade 1 product, Grade 2 product, and reject/waste product.
  • Perform QC analyses for every order processed on each piece of equipment; for long production runs, perform an additional 2 or 3 analyses to ensure consistent results.
  • Record the results of the QC analyses in the Packaging Plan.
  • Provide feedback on the results of each Line QC check to the Shift Supervisor and the Operator.
  • Provide feedback to the Product Planner regarding any QC check that receives a score lower than 80%.
  • Review and monitor in-line quality to facilitate the rapid identification of defects (when not actively performing QC checks).
  • Design a defect monitoring plan (daily/weekly) for the AWETA equipment.
  • Execute defect monitoring checks in coordination with the AWETA operator and record the results in the defect tracking report.
  • Monitor and record equipment productivity on an hourly basis, following a review of productivity data with the operators of each specific machine.
  • Measure and record the ambient temperature of the work area, as well as the temperatures within the citrus cold storage rooms, in the tracking report.
  • Monitor and verify the weights of finished products, according to their specific packaging formats—whether 38-lb boxes, 40-lb boxes, or bagged products.
  • All these activities constitute part of the job role; however, this list does not represent an exhaustive list of the duties associated with this position.
