Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for pediatric patients, including history-taking, mental status examinations, and risk assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate psychotherapy, medication management, and other therapeutic modalities as appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure holistic patient care.
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications while adhering to best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, eClinicalWorks, to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Provide crisis intervention and manage acute psychiatric episodes with prompt, effective responses.
- Educate families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies to support ongoing recovery.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and safety.
- Engage in continuous professional development through training sessions, conferences, and peer collaboration to stay current with advancements in psychiatry.
Skills
- Proven experience working with pediatric populations in inpatient or outpatient settings; familiarity with pediatric neuropsychology is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatry principles, including psychopharmacology, behavioral health interventions, and crisis management.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and patient tracking.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
- Ability to perform thorough physical examinations when necessary and interpret relevant medical data.
- Experience in managing acute pain or behavioral health crises within pediatric or adolescent populations.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to mental health disorders and treatment modalities.
- Commitment to delivering patient-centered care that emphasizes empathy, safety, and evidence-based practices.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications in trauma-informed care or family therapy are advantageous.
