In This Role, You Will
- Perform a vital part of the patient care process through examining prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities
- Report negative Pap Test cases and refers abnormal cases to the pathologists for review
- May read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to the pathologists for final diagnosis
- Document for each 24-hour period, the total number of slides examined or reviewed in the laboratory or for any other employer.
- Document the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period.
- Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control
- Graduation from an accredited school of cytology
- Cytotechnologist certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
- Thinprep Certification, Required
- Surepath Certification, Preferred
- Will possess critical thinking, complex problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment and have basic computer skills.
- 2 years of laboratory training or experience
