Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and collect necessary demographic data to facilitate seamless check-in processes.
- Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations by taking vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, and supporting procedures such as phlebotomy or X-ray requests.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring all patient documentation is accurate, complete, and up-to-date in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate referrals efficiently to optimize clinic flow.
- Perform basic clinical tasks including medication administration, ICD coding for diagnoses, and recording physiological data such as blood pressure or oxygen saturation levels.
- Support administrative functions by answering phones, managing patient inquiries, and maintaining organized medical office records.
- Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols and hospital standards for outpatient or inpatient settings.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role within dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding practices.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or X-ray technician are advantageous.
- Familiarity with hospital environments including Level I or Level II trauma centers, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or surgical settings is preferred.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to handle diverse populations including geriatrics and internal medicine patients.
- Ability to multitask effectively in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or medical-surgical units while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
