This position is for a part time Captain to run Shark Fishing Trips, Special Event Trips and fill in as mate when needed. Fishing Knowledge a must.
Duties
- Operate vessels safely and confidently, adhering to all maritime laws and safety protocols.
- Manage crew members, providing leadership, training, and supervision to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Oversee vessel rigging processes, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and secured.
- Conduct routine mechanical inspections, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs with maintenance teams.
- Plan routes effectively, considering weather conditions, tides, and navigational hazards.
- Maintain detailed logs of voyages, safety checks, and operational activities for compliance purposes.
- Ensure all safety equipment is functional and conduct regular drills to prepare the crew for emergencies.
- Coordinate with management on voyage planning, scheduling, and logistical requirements.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism in interactions with clients, authorities, and team members.
Requirements
- Valid 100 Ton U.S. Coast Guard license or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in maritime vessel operation with a strong understanding of navigation and safety procedures.
- Demonstrated management skills in supervising crew members effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge of marine engines, rigging systems, and general vessel maintenance.
- Ability to perform rigging tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with other Captain, Mates and Administration.
