Position: Lead Network Architect
The Lead Network Architect is responsible for full lifecycle ownership of enterprise network solution designs — from concept to successful implementation — ensuring performance, security, scalability, and business value. This role combines product-level design leadership, operational governance, and continuous improvement across physical, logical, and secure network solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Architecture
- Develop comprehensive physical network designs illustrating integration with enterprise systems and infrastructure.
- Create detailed logical and secure network designs that meet solution requirements, ensure optimal performance, and enhance the digital experience.
- Implement monitoring and measurement systems to track performance, detect operational issues early, and validate outcomes against defined success metrics.
- Maintain design documentation and architectural standards aligned with enterprise objectives and governance frameworks.
Governance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead Network Design Governance activities with internal teams and external partners to ensure adherence to business and technical standards.
- Participate in Enterprise Architecture Governance sessions focused on operational efficiency, business value, and customer experience.
- Lead Vendor Design Governance reviews to ensure suppliers follow best practices and deliver quality solutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) during root cause analyses, integrating lessons learned into future designs to minimize risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional business units to ensure network solutions align with enterprise needs and deliver measurable business value.
Continuous Improvement & Business Alignment
- Drive Business Outcome Governance to ensure network designs meet or exceed defined business goals.
- Own the solution lifecycle for continuous improvement, optimizing designs for cost efficiency, scalability, availability, security, and supportability.
- Apply financial acumen to deliver network solutions within OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve digital experience, resiliency, and reliability across enterprise networks.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred
Experience
- 8 years of experience in network architecture and design
- 5 years in network engineering (build/run) with hands-on experience in:
- Cisco (Routing, Switching, ACI, Wireless, Management Tools)
- Palo Alto
- Citrix Netscaler
- Zscaler
- (Juniper or HP experience a plus)
Technical Expertise
- Expert-level knowledge of:
- Cisco Route/Switch, ACI, Wireless, and Management Tools
- SD-WAN and Cloud connectivity solutions
- Network protocols, routing, switching, and security technologies
- Network monitoring and observability tools (e.g., SNMP, SFlow/NetFlow, full-stack monitoring tools)
- Cisco Catalyst Center and Cisco ISE
- Palo Alto Firewalls, Citrix Netscaler, Zscaler, and NetScout
- Experience with InfoBlox for IPAM, DNS, and DHCP preferred
- Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., PCI, Gaming Control Boards) preferred
Certifications
- Preferred: CCNA, CCIE, JNCIE, TOGAF, or equivalent certifications in network design, architecture, or security
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to translate business and technical requirements into actionable network architecture solutions
- Strong analytical skills for quantitative evaluation of performance metrics
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strategic thinker with a “how might we” mindset to drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Strong collaboration, documentation, and presentation skills
