Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Short-Order / Diner Cook to join our small kitchen crew. If you know your way around a flat-top grill, can turn out a perfect breakfast plate under pressure, and take pride in feeding our local community, you will fit right in. We run a fast-paced but friendly kitchen where teamwork is everything, and every regular who walks through the door counts on us for a great, consistent meal.
Responsibilities
- Own the Line: Prep and cook menu items quickly and accurately according to our diner’s recipes—especially during the peak breakfast and lunch rushes.
- Master the Flat-Top & Fryer: Safely and efficiently operate standard diner equipment, including the grill, fryers, slicers, and knives.
- Keep it Clean: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation. Follow all food safety guidelines for handling, storage, and kitchen sanitation.
- Team Up: Work closely with the dishwashers and front-of-house servers to keep ticket times low and ensure food goes out hot and fresh.
- Stock & Prep: Keep track of station inventory, prep ingredients before the rush hits, and help minimize food waste through accurate portion control.
Requirements & Experience
- Diner Experience Preferred: Previous experience working a fast-paced line or flat-top grill is highly preferred. If you can flip eggs perfectly and multi-task several tickets at once, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
- Kitchen Know-How: Strong foundational skills in knife handling, food prep, and basic kitchen safety.
- Reliability: Small-town diners rely heavily on their crew. We need someone dependable who shows up on time, ready to work their shift.
- Pace & Attitude: Ability to stand for long periods and keep your cool during heavy rush hours, all while maintaining a positive attitude with the team.
