Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of electrical systems across residential and commercial settings. Your expertise will ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards and local electrical codes, including NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association standards) and the NEC (National Electrical Code). This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, from new construction and renovations to high-voltage electrical systems, while ensuring safety and efficiency at every step.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial electrical systems using electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Perform electrical diagnostics to identify issues quickly and accurately, utilizing tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and multimeters.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to guide installation and repair processes.
- Handle high-voltage electrical wiring safely in accordance with NFPA 70 compliance standards and local electrical codes.
- Conduct routine maintenance on electrical systems to prevent failures and ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete electrical work efficiently on construction sites or renovation projects.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), low voltage systems, and industrial electrical components.
- Follow all electrical safety procedures rigorously to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Collaborate with other trades such as frame carpentry or handyman services during renovation or construction projects.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including incident reports, inspection logs, and compliance records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician with a strong background in residential and commercial electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to read electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately.
- Extensive knowledge of local electrical codes, NFPA 70 standards, NEC regulations, and safety procedures.
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage wiring, low voltage systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and troubleshooting complex electrical issues.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other testing equipment.
- Familiarity with construction site protocols including renovation projects and framing carpentry when applicable.
- Ability to operate power tools safely while adhering to all safety protocols related to high-voltage environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently under pressure.
- Valid electrician’s license or certification as required by state or local authorities; additional handyman or technical certifications are a plus.
