Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure patients’ oral health is maintained at its best
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to support comprehensive dental care
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to infection prevention protocols
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all treatments and patient interactions clearly and thoroughly
- Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, in compliance with HIPAA regulations and healthcare standards
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification
- Experience working in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings preferred
- Proficiency with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with medical imaging software is a plus
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection prevention management
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and patient education
- Ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and managing dental equipment effectively
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements for maintaining patient confidentiality and handling medical records securely
- Demonstrated commitment to infection control practices and healthcare safety standards
