Scale Operator

Position Overview

Scale Operator is responsible for accurately weighing and recording the weights of incoming and outgoing trucks, performing tests on seed samples to determine quality, moisture content, and other factors, and ensuring accuracy of data entry and records. This position interacts with and collaborates with farmers, truck drivers, operations, warehouse, procurement, and inventory personnel. Key duties also include maintaining the work area, following safety procedures, and assisting with other facility operations, especially during peak harvest and increased-volume production. Attendance and personal accountability in this role are critical.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty.

• Provide high-quality customer service to internal and external customers
• Scale and grade incoming trucks and direct them to the appropriate receiving elevator
• Scale incoming and outgoing warehouse trucks and ensure the accuracy of associated paperwork
• Coordinate hull and screening pick up with customers
• Perform lab testing and document results
• Document and log data into an electronic system
• Collect product samples following the specifications
• Ensure accuracy and submission of the bulk load bill of lading
• Prepare product samples for shipment
• Perform computer skills at moderate proficiency
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Maintain assigned work areas at the highest possible sanitation level
• Participate in cross-functional training with other departmental tasks
• Other duties as assigned

• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with customers, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to use critical thinking to plan and solve problems
• Attention to detail
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Proficiency in basic math skills
• Interpersonal effectiveness in customer service and as a team player
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Must perform tasks per Sunrich Products’ GMP Policies and Procedures and all Food and Safety Procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

• This position requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• 1-2 years related work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Food Industry experience and knowledge

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position is primarily performed in a scale office-type setting with low to moderate physical demand, including frequent and consistent lifting up to 25 pounds. Lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Frequent sitting, bending, stooping, and twisting. Able to climb stairs/ladders and stand throughout the day.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
