Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our retail team. This opening is for a part time/ almost full time cashier. You must be available between 3pm- 11:30pm Mondays and Wednesdays and 8a-4p one day during week and Sundays. If can not find someone with this availability then will hire two part time employees, one for the two evenings and one for the two daytime.
Ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role is essential in maintaining smooth store operations and ensuring customer satisfaction. Experience with POS systems and Sales and Redemptions of NYS Lotto/Lottery is preferred, along with strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
Duties
- Operate POS systems to process sales quickly and accurately
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision and integrity
- Assist customers with product inquiries
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including merchandising and stocking shelves as needed
- Upsell products to enhance customer experience and increase sales opportunities
- Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed at all times
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive shopping experience
- Support store operations through merchandising, stocking, and inventory management tasks
- Demonstrate effective phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone
Requirements
- Previous cashier or retail sales experience preferred, especially in grocery or similar environments
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic retail math skills for accurate transactions
- Strong communication skills, including clear speaking and active listening abilities
- Ability to handle cash handling responsibilities responsibly
- Ability to perform duties with professionalism, patience, and a positive attitude
- Basic math skills necessary for balancing registers and processing transactions efficiently
