At King’s Grant, we’re seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Medication Aide (RMA) to join our Catered Living team. As a RMA, you’ll be at the heart of providing person-centered care and building meaningful relationships with residents on a daily basis. Your role will be vital in enhancing the lives of our residents, families, and loved ones.
The primary responsibilities of the Medication Aide include but are not limited to administering medications in safe manner and within regulation requirements, assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s); bathing, dressing, toileting and dining, documenting resident care, while always respecting and promoting resident’s rights and always maintaining a clean and safe home-like environment.

Qualifications:
- Must have current Medication Aide license through Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Must have completed the medication training by a state-approved trainer.
- Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
- Must have current CPR and First Aid, or ability to obtain.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its’ integrity.
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and having good organizational skills.
- Ability to work in stressful environment and deal with medical emergency situations.
- Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.
Requirements
· Administers and/or assists residents with medications via oral, rectal, vaginal, optic, topical, ophthalmic, or nasal method, and subcutaneous insulin.
· Maintains knowledge of medication terminology, types, doses, installations, and treatments
· Recognizes emergencies and other health-threatening conditions
· Follows proper procedure for pouring/preparing medication, various instillations, and treatments
· Stores and secures all medications per regulations
· Properly documents medication errors.
· Proficient in Nursing system
· Understands implications of Residents’ Rights regarding medication, treatment decisions, and confidentiality
· Reports to Clinic Nurse or immediate supervisor on Assisted Living a resident’s refusal to take medication
· Cleans and disinfects storage area.
· Utilizes strong communication skills in order to discuss medication, instillations, and treatments with physicians, nurses, residents and others
· Makes rounds at facility to perform essential job duties such as administering medication
· Recognizes changes in residents’ conditions and relays relevant information to appropriate medical personnel.
· Uses all equipment safely and effectively to perform job duties
· Assists nurse with fire plan for all of adult care residence apartments.
· Gives resident care as required
· Dispose of all trash in CL residents’ apartments, daily.
· Practices Universal Precautions.
· Corrects safety issues regarding resident care environment or equipment
· Cleans and straightens work area as assigned
· Records/reports all vital signs and patient information
· Utilizes time to best advantage to meet job requirements and residents’ needs
· Works under stressful conditions, including medical emergencies
· Performs job duties and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner.
· Meets all training requirements as required by Federal and State regulations and by Sunnyside Communities.
