Cook - Full Time - to include every other weekend, days & evenings

Pay Range: $13.00/hour - $20.36/hour

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality, appealing food in accordance with established menus, recipes, dietary requirements, sanitation standards, and resident preferences.  

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a food service, institutional dining, healthcare dining, or related position preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, recipes, menus, labels, diet cards, and other food service information.
• Ability to understand and follow dietary restrictions, food allergies, portion requirements, and resident preferences.
• Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally using proper grammar.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain a positive, courteous, and hospitality-focused attitude when interacting with residents, guests, and coworkers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and food safety standards.
• Ability to follow established sanitation, safety, and food handling procedures.
• Must demonstrate dependability, reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to assist others.
• Must be willing to attend required training, meetings, and in-services.  

Requirements

• Prepare food according to established menus, recipes, preparation instructions, portion sizes, and meal schedules.
• Read and follow break-down sheets, labels, diet information cards, and other instructions related to food preparation and resident dietary needs.
• Prepare regular, puréed, mechanical soft, and other modified diets as required.
• Follow resident preferences, allergies, special diets, and other dietary requirements to ensure meals are prepared and served appropriately.
• Ensure food is properly prepared, presented, and maintained at the appropriate temperature for resident meal service.
• Prepare and deliver meal trays to the Health Care Center and other areas as assigned.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all food preparation, kitchen, dining, and service areas in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations and company standards.
• Properly operate kitchen and food service equipment, including but not limited to dishwashers, garbage disposals, microwaves, griddles, and toasters.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, serving trays, and other food service equipment.
• Stock, cover, label, date, and properly store food, condiments, and supplies.
• Follow the First In, First Out (FIFO) method when stocking food and supplies.
• Check food inventory for expiration dates and discard items as required by regulations and company procedures.
• Properly store cleaning chemicals and sanitizing solutions in designated areas.
• Post resident menus and other required dining information.
• Bus and reset tables and ensure dining and service areas are clean and properly prepared for the next shift.
• Empty trash receptacles and transport trash to the designated disposal area.
• Assist with inventory, stocking, and maintaining adequate supplies as needed.
• Assist with training and orienting new employees to the Cook position and department procedures.
• Work special functions, events, and other assignments as directed.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with residents, families, guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Demonstrate a hospitality-focused approach in all interactions and contribute positively to the dining experience.
• Maintain regular and dependable attendance and report to work as scheduled and ready to perform assigned duties.
• Attend required in-services, training sessions, staff meetings, and other educational programs.
• Complete all required training in accordance with Federal and State regulations, company policies, and community standards.
• Follow all company and community policies, procedures, safety rules, and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices and use equipment, supplies, and facilities in a safe and responsible manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
