The Customer Support Associate is responsible for providing customer assistance regarding plant care questions and maintaining the general condition of plants. carry-out assistance, unloading trucks, and performing minor construction and/or repair work. This position also provides carry-out assistance, unloads trucks, and ensures that the retail areas are well stocked. This position also assists with keeping the retail area in neat, clean condition at all times and for stocking bags, boxes, shelves, and other items as necessary.
Reporting Relationship
The Customer Support Associate reports to the General Manager.
Position Duties
- Assist customers by answering their questions, assisting in selecting and carrying their purchases.
- Resolve customer issues as needed and inform management of any customer issues or concerns that are not completely resolved.
- Maintain grounds of the retail center and nursery including sweeping, removing trash, and watering of plants.
- Perform maintenance duties to ensure the store remains in neat and clean condition at all times.
- Perform general building maintenance and repair. Use hand or power tools as required.
- Continually expand plant and product knowledge in order to assist customers.
- Communicate with co-workers and management in a clear and timely manner.
- Replenish and restock bags, boxes, shelves, and other products as necessary.
- Properly maintain all equipment and immediately refer any problems to management.
- Attend all meetings as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Assist with opening and closing the store.
Position Type and Classification
This is a full-time, non-exempt role and is eligible for overtime in accordance with the FLSA.
Physical and Mental Demands
Requires constant (67-100%) standing, walking and lifting of plants and nursery products of up to 75 lbs. Requires frequent (34-66%) reaching, crouching, and climbing while assisting customers. Requires the ability to push and pull wheeled carts with nursery products. This position requires the ability to operate basic tools along with excellent manual dexterity and visual skills. This position requires excellent manual dexterity and visual skills. Must be able to work in and around high UV light, wet or humid conditions, fumes, heat, cold, chemicals, and high levels of noise. Requires the ability to communicate clearly.
Special Equipment
Must be able to operate various water hoses, wands, tubes, and injector tanks; fertilizer scales, mixing tanks, spray tanks, hand and power tools.

Experience Required
- A minimum of two (2) years of garden retail experience required.
- High School Diploma Required.
- College degree in horticulture or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience working with both indoor and outdoor plants is required.

- Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and have strong math skills.
- Must be friendly, possess a team mentality, and the ability to build rapport.
