Directs, leads and manages the day-to-day operations of the assigned campus. Assists CEO with the development and implementation of short and long term strategies and master plans affecting the campus.
- Directs implementation of policies and procedures established by Sunnyside Board of Trustees and Sunnyside Corporate regarding resident care, employees, medical staff, financial status, public relations and maintenance. Works with department leaders to review and update policies and procedures, periodically making changes as necessary to bring campus into compliance with established guidelines.
- Maintains knowledge of local, state and federal legislation and requirements to ensure that campus remains in compliance with all regulations. Responsible for ensuring staff participation and response to healthcare and assisted living surveyors and inspection process.
- Recruits, selects and retains high quality talent to supervise the activities of major departments. Reviews performance of each leader and department on an on-going basis to ensure that residents receive a high quality of care.
- Responsible for maintaining a positive, service-oriented culture. Responds to employee feedback.
- Works with CFO and department directors to prepare annual budget and ensure that budgetary goals are met.
- Represents campus in dealings with outside agencies including governmental and third party payers, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
- Reviews physical condition of campus, directing repairs, new construction, etc. Responsible for capital budget preparation, submits capital purchases in compliance with established purchasing policies and procedures.
- Monitors vendor performance and regularly reviews capital project expenditures to prevent cost overruns or missed project deadlines. Takes action when required to bring projects in on-time and on-budget.
- Supervises admissions program. Identifies opportunities to increase occupancy and works with staff to ensure maximum occupancy.
- Communicates effectively with residents, employees, trustees, outside agencies and the general public. Conducts town hall meetings and resident council meetings. Ensures that meeting minutes are maintained and actions are taken on commitments made.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in hospital administration, business administration or nursing administration preferred.
- At least 3 years leadership experience in a hospital, health or CCRC facility.
- Virginia Nursing Home Administrator’s license required.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Budgeting and P/L experience.
- Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide appropriate leadership and oversight to campus functional team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to read and comprehend all types of written materials, strong phone etiquette and ability to speak with appropriate grammar.
- Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its’ integrity.
- Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach when engaging all individuals.
- Travel as required.
