General Job Summary
The Housekeeper will be responsible for housekeeping and cleaning functions within the facility. Housekeepers will be responsible for working in and around patient care areas and in all areas of the facility. Work will be on a routine basis as well as on an as-needed basis in the event of needs for immediate cleaning of any area. Laundry Aide will be responsible for assisting with general laundry needs including washing, drying, delivery back to residents' rooms.
Qualifications
Education: Housekeeper/Laundry Aide must possess the ability to read, write, speak and follow written and verbal instructions. High school education or G.E.D. is preferred, but not required. Must be at least 16 years old
Continuing
Education Requirement: All staff is required to complete annual 12 hour in-service training program. Failure to complete the 12 hour in-service program may be grounds for termination.
Environment

- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. The lead Housekeeper must be able to provide clear and concise directions.
Duties and Responsibilities
The housekeeper has an overall responsibility for duties relating to cleaning the facility.
The following is a list of duties for persons in the department:
- Wash furnishing and equipment with cleaning solution and disinfectants.
- Use dust cloth and spray to dust furniture, window sills and under televisions.
- Empty ashtrays (outside smoking only) and trash baskets.
- Clean sinks, mirrors and enamel equipment. Clean and disinfect the front, side and backs of all toilet bowels and/or bed side commode (BSC) and urinals.
- Replenish supplies - soap, paper towels and other dispersible items.
- Request help when moving heavy furniture for cleaning and replace furniture back in same positions.
- Notify supervisor when supplies are low.
- Report any mechanical failure or problems as observed in assigned area.
- Sweep and mop daily, use wet floor signs.
- Vacuum daily.
- Clean walls as needed.

- Other duties as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor or Administrator.

Physical Activity Requirements
Lift Requirements
Housekeepers/Laundry Aides, including the Lead Housekeeper, are frequently called upon to lift objects up to 15 pounds during house cleaning duties including lines, towels, cleaning equipment and garbage containers. Occasionally housekeepers will be called upon to lift objects between 15 and 30 pounds while performing cleaning duties. Housekeepers will rarely be called upon to lift in excess of 40 pounds.
Carry Requirements
Housekeepers/Laundry Aides will frequently be called upon to carry items up to 15 pound in weight while cleaning or carrying supplies to rooms. Housekeepers will occasionally be called upon to carry cleaning supplies between 10 and 40 pounds. Housekeepers will rarely have to carry any objects in excess of 40 pounds.

Socialization Requirements
A housekeeper is expected to have good socialization and communication skills.
Other Physical Considerations
Housekeepers will frequently be called upon to perform duties involving twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling and crouching. Must be mobile in all facility areas.
