Sunny Side Paint Co. is looking for an experienced painter to join our growing team. We’re looking for someone who already understands professional painting standards, can work efficiently, and takes pride in leaving behind clean, consistent work.
This position is focused strictly on painting and paint preparation. No wallpaper installation or construction/build work is required.
Pay
$20–$30 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill.
A paid hands-on skills test will be required before hiring to determine experience level, quality of work, and starting pay.
Responsibilities
- Interior and exterior painting
- Brush and roll application
- Cutting clean, straight lines
- Painting walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and other standard surfaces
- Proper surface preparation, including sanding, caulking, filling nail holes, patching minor imperfections, and masking
- Protecting floors, furniture, fixtures, and customer property
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Following job scopes and communicating issues before proceeding
- Completing work efficiently without sacrificing quality
- Performing touch-ups and final quality checks
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Have professional or substantial hands-on painting experience
- Be proficient with brush and roller application
- Be able to cut clean lines without relying heavily on tape
- Understand proper prep and the importance of surface preparation
- Know how to produce an even, consistent finish without excessive runs, drips, roller marks, or flashing
- Be comfortable painting trim, doors, walls, and ceilings
- Be able to work independently once given a scope and direction
- Have reliable transportation to job sites throughout the Nashville area
- Be dependable and arrive on time
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in customers’ homes and businesses
- Be able to safely use ladders and perform the physical requirements of painting
- Be willing to complete a hands-on painting test before being offered a position
What We’re Looking For
We care about quality, efficiency, reliability, and attention to detail. We’re not looking for someone who needs to be taught the basics of painting from scratch.
You don’t have to know everything, but you should be able to walk onto a standard painting project, understand what needs to happen, properly prep your work area, and produce professional-quality brush and roll finishes.
Higher starting pay within the $20–$30/hour range will be offered to painters who demonstrate stronger experience, speed, finish quality, problem-solving ability, and the ability to work independently.
Skills Test
Qualified applicants will be asked to complete a hands-on test before hiring. The test may include:
- Cutting in walls or trim
- Brush technique
- Rolling technique and finish consistency
- Surface preparation
- Caulking/filling
- Jobsite cleanliness and protection
- Speed and workflow
- Final finish quality
