Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Architect to join our team and contribute to projects from conceptual design through construction administration. This position requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of professional architectural experience. However, candidates with 5 or more years of relevant experience who demonstrate strong technical and project management abilities will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Develop architectural designs and construction documents for primarily commercial projects, with occasional residential work.
- Manage projects through all phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.
- Coordinate project requirements with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, accessibility requirements, and permitting regulations.
- Apply and maintain working knowledge of the 2021 International Building Code (IBC) and related codes.
- Participate in client meetings and maintain positive client relationships throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site visits, field observations, and construction administration activities as required.
- Coordinate with internal team members to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Assist with project planning, technical problem-solving, and design solutions.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Minimum 5 years of professional architectural experience.
- Strong proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- SketchUp
- Bluebeam
- Working knowledge of the 2021 International Building Code (IBC).
- Experience preparing construction documents and coordinating with engineering consultants.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, technical, and project management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative office environment.
- Position is office-based in State College, Pennsylvania.
Preferred
- Architectural license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure.
- 10 years of professional architectural experience.
- Experience managing commercial projects from design through construction.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania permitting processes and municipal code review procedures.
- Experience interacting directly with clients and leading project teams.
