Job Title: Program Director

Supervisor: Divisional Director

Summary 

Program Director at Sunny Glen Children Home directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of the organization in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. Responsible for the overall management of the programmatic, administrative, financial, facility inspections, and operational systems related to the provision of care and services. Provision of regular and timely reports to ORR regarding operations, services, and finances; establishing a respectful and supportive workplace environment and elevating any issues or concerns to CPS.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

      • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
      • Guides and directs management in the development, production, promotion, and financial aspects of the organization's products and services.
      • Directs the preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives.
      • Oversees executives who direct department activities that implement the organization's policies.
      • Implements programs that meet corporate goals and objectives. 
      • Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth.
      • Maintains a sound plan of corporate organization, establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
      • Develop and install procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization.
      • Supervises the design of hardware and software systems to assist in the smooth and efficient flow of information.
      • Establishes operating policies consistent with the Chief Executive Officer's broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution.
      • Evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and report these results to the chief executive officer.
      • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
      • Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
      • Work evenings, weekend rotations, and holidays as needed to assist with campus needs.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree in social work or equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science degree; or

Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience in child welfare administration, child protective services

In addition to either of the criteria above, the candidate must possess:

2 years of experience in program management or as director of a licensed childcare program.

Must possess an administrator’s license for the care provider’s facility, if required by state licensing, possess the administrator’s license.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Electronic Case Management software.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Licensed as a Child Care Administrator (or eligible to obtain license within 6 months of hire).

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Have a record of tuberculosis screening showing the employee is free of contagious TB.

The employee must regularly exert up to 25 pounds of force (mopping, lifting groceries, moving furniture, cooking, etc.) and occasionally be able to perform a restraint on youth weighing up to 200 lbs. Must be able to frequently maintain visual and auditory supervision of multiple children. The employee must be able to make quick decisions, tolerate frustration and be able to always balance mental toughness with compassion. The employee must be able to multitask.
