REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Responsible for maintaining, installing, diagnosing, lubricating, repairing, rebuilding and troubleshooting equipment and machines.

Essential Job Functions:

• Attend and understand pass-down maintenance needs or objectives from prior shift team member(s) and supervisor.
• Works closely with departmental managers, supervisors and leads regarding equipment, machinery and facility needs.
• Conduct daily inspection of equipment, machinery and facilities.
• Responsible for disassembling and de-energizing equipment in preparation for maintenance and repair ensuring lock-out/tagout procedures have been used.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and electrical testing equipment as authorized and required.
• Adjusts and calibrates equipment to optimize performance.
• Conduct diagnostic checks, troubleshooting, and prompt repair for all equipment and machinery.
• Completes repairs and maintenance activities.
• Completes assigned Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) efficiently and accurately.
• Documents repair and maintenance activities performed accurately and submit documentation (work orders/PM’s) timely.
• Must be able to communicate proficiently both written and orally with across all departments.
• Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
• Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
• Makes necessary modification and implements test runs working with production team regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
• Promptly report all damage, worn, broken parts and health and safety risks to supervisor.
• Recommend continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Maintains shop areas, parts, tools and supplies clean and organized.
• Completes daily ammonia system checklist.
• Maintains good housekeeping at and around surrounding area after work is performed.
• Responsible for complying with but not limited to all departmental and company procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) Safety, Hazard Analysis.

Other Job Functions:

· Assists in providing training and guidance to other maintenance team members and operators as required.

· Responsible to update supervisor on project status as applicable.

· Conduct weekly inventory of consumables and parts.

· Conduct monthly tool inventory and report deficiencies to supervisor.

· Operate forklift, scissor lift, boom lift or other equipment as required.

· Attend all safety meetings and comply with safety guidelines.

· Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

· Ability to diagnose, trouble shoot, repair and perform maintenance procedures on various equipment, Including, but not limited to: Pumps, plate pack, valves gearbox, RTD, VFD, PLC, starter, breaker, contactor, pressure transducer, conveyor, auger, filter, finisher, separator, dock lifters, electric doors, plumbing, AC system, air compressor, Boiler, waste water and components.

· Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.

· Proficient knowledge, understanding and use of: welding equipment, Mig, Tig, Arc, measuring tape, level, protractor, square, drill press, plasma cutter, torch, grinders, press, bearing puller, slide hammer, various hand and power, pneumatic, and all shop power tools. Electrical testing equipment, Volt / Ohm meter, mega Ohm meter, Amp clamp.

· Ability to communicate and work well with others, both written, orally and through electronic communication.

· Ability to comprehend instructions provided and complete task(s) as instructed, accurately and timely.

• Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, equipment procedure equipment manuals, schematics, blue prints and other technical documentation.

· Ability to work independently and work with others.

• Ability to maintain the required documentation utilizing computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

· Ability to solve problems.

· Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.

· Basic arithmetic.

Physical Activity Requirement:

· Ability to continuously stand and walk throughout the facility.

· Ability to continuously climb up and down stairs, or ladder where equipment is not on ground floor.

· Ability to continuously stoop, kneel, squat, crouch and crawl while performing duties.

· Ability to frequently lift up to 70 pounds.

· Ability to continuously use arms, hands and wrists to perform tasks and complete required paperwork.

· Ability to continuously bend and reach while performing tasks.

· Ability to sit occasionally to complete required paperwork.

Working Environment Conditions:

· Required to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions. Wet floors may contribute to slippery conditions and may also contribute to humidity in the building. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work around hot products, moving machinery, forklift, truck traffic. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles from maintenance materials used.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
